Relationships, beers, newspapers and candles all have something in common; the beginning is the best part. All to often the end is left to after-thoughts and deadends. There are instances where the end is fun, interesting beautiful and tasty. I would like to dedicate the next few posts to the end. To the end. (My first is of course the end of a fruit roll up where the end is doubled over)

thank you melissa for reminding me

that my name might have been Lahoma. Apparently when my parents were picking out my name my grandmother threw in her suggestion of Lahoma. Seriously? Where would I be right now? What kind of friends would I have? WHAT WOULD I LOOK LIKE??…if my name was Lahoma?!?! I wonder….

Seriously- you don’t get much better than this. Unfortunately for me, I kept getting breakfast foods. You can imagine how annoying it was when I started each phrase with “You eat this for breakfast…”. There was literally an uproar. So when faced with “Hot Cakes”, what was I to do? I said the opposite of cold pies. Yea, yea pies are not the opposite of cakes, but what was I to do, admit yet another thing I eat for breakfast?

The show So You Think You Can Dance? is brilliant. As one who appreciatesthe art of dancing as well as the demanding task of choreography I truly appreciate this show as an in-depth look into physical expression.
That being said I must address the pure joy that I get when hearing the question “So You Think You Can Dance?”
Bear with me when I try to convey the humor I find in this question. If you and a friend are fighting and they are really pushing their point you can say “So you think you can dance?” and the pure pause that stems from the confusion of that question will bring you a joy that you will not understand until you see a look on your counter parts face. Sometimes I like to go into a crowd of people who are having fun i.e. a full bar and yell — “you guys think you can dance??”. (I don’t really yell it—- I say it loud enough for Melissa to hear because she will for sure laugh). Anyway please try it. No one will get it- they won’t know why your asking for such a challenge when it is way out of left field. But my friend, you will know, it was because you needed a moment of random and joy.
